This activity was initiated by the Goethe Institute in collaboration with Kompas in an effort to increase public awareness of creating new opportunities and encouraging innovation at the start of the AI era.

Digital Discourses invited speakers from Europe and Southeast Asia, including senior researchers at the Humboldt Institute for Internet & Society Berlin, Dr. Anna Jobin, chairman of the Indonesia AI Society Dr. Ir. Lukas, MAI, CISA, Digital Mobility project leader iRights.Lab Germany Lena Rickenberg, senior Research Associate at Khazanah Research Institute Dr. Jun-E Tan, and anthropologist computer scientist & SFI Research Center for AI-Based Digital Content Technologies at Trinity College Dublin Ireland Arthit Suriyawongku.

Dr. Anna Jobin in her presentation said that artificial intelligence (AI) not only covers a technical field, but is also a social problem. This is evident in the increasing demand for 'ethical AI'. He highlighted the major challenges of IA today related to value priorities, implementation, and broader issues beyond ethics and AI.

Lena Rickenberg and Dr. Jun-E agrees with the same thing about the challenges of AI governance in Southeast Asia, that implementation and governance still have many obstacles. Then, Algorithmic bias, data privacy issues, accountability, transparency, and potential misuse of AI and unintended consequences all represent major challenges. Especially ensuring that AI regulations continue to respect human rights in the digital realm.

FKM UMJ students who took part in this activity included Fashfahis Sophal Jamil, Zalzha, Okta Fairuz, Arija Taufiqqurahman, Ragi Nur Muhammad, and Adipatra Kenaro. They took part in various conference and exhibition sessions with very interesting sub-topics.

In another session, Okta Fairuz, one of the participants, expressed his hopes, especially after listening to the description of the current AI situation in Indonesia presented by Dr. Ir. Lukas, MAI, CISA, IPM.

"Hopefully students from all academic circles can take part in proving and participating in the development of AI, one of which is by creating new opportunities or encouraging innovation. "Because AI in Indonesia is also considered to be developing rapidly, so it can encourage innovation in various sectors such as education, health, agriculture and finance," said Okta.

Apart from the Digital Discourse and Conference Series, this event also held workshops on AI and film screenings.
